Events

Pennsylvania hosts signature events in every season, from the nation’s largest indoor agricultural exposition to the most famous weather forecast in the world. Below are the marquee events on the Commonwealth’s calendar. Dates vary year to year, so please confirm details with each event’s organizers before you travel.

America250: Pennsylvania Celebrates the Semiquincentennial

2026 marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia, and celebrations continue across Pennsylvania throughout the year. Independence National Historical Park, Valley Forge, Gettysburg, and communities in all 67 counties are hosting special exhibitions, festivals, and commemorations honoring the state where America began.

Summer

• Musikfest – Bethlehem (August). One of the largest free-admission music festivals in the nation, with hundreds of performances across multiple stages in the historic Lehigh Valley steel town.
• Little League World Series – Williamsport (late August). The world’s best young ballplayers converge on the birthplace of Little League for ten days of tournament play that draws fans from around the globe.
• The Great Allentown Fair – Allentown (late August–September). A Lehigh Valley tradition since the 1800s featuring agricultural exhibits, headline concerts, and midway rides.

Fall

• Fall Foliage Season – Statewide (late September–October). Pennsylvania is one of the top leaf-peeping destinations in the world. The PA Wilds, Pocono Mountains, and Laurel Highlands offer scenic drives, overlooks, and excursion train rides at peak color.
• Harvest & Halloween Festivals – Statewide (October). Apple festivals, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and haunted attractions fill the calendar across Pennsylvania Dutch Country and beyond.

Winter

• Holiday Celebrations – Statewide (November–December). Christmas Candylane at Hersheypark, Koziar’s Christmas Village near Bernville, and the historic Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania’s own Christmas City.
• Mummers Parade – Philadelphia (January 1). A New Year’s Day spectacle of string bands, fancy brigades, and comics strutting up Broad Street, a Philadelphia tradition for over a century.
• Pennsylvania Farm Show – Harrisburg (January). The largest indoor agricultural exposition in the United States, famous for its butter sculpture, food court, and thousands of animal and farm exhibits.
• Groundhog Day – Punxsutawney (February 2). Tens of thousands gather at Gobbler’s Knob before dawn to see whether Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring.

Spring

• Philadelphia Flower Show – Philadelphia (March). The nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event, produced by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
• Kutztown Folk Festival – Kutztown (late June–early July). America’s oldest folklife festival, celebrating Pennsylvania Dutch food, crafts, and culture.

• Keystone Society for Tourism Awards. Honoring individuals, destinations, and events that have made outstanding contributions to Pennsylvania tourism. Nominations are accepted annually.
• TRAVELPAC Events. Fundraising and networking events supporting advocacy for Pennsylvania’s travel and tourism industry.
